They’ve been economical even if they haven’t found as many breakthroughs as they would have liked. Josh de Caires and Luke Hollman are the key bowlers for Middlesex. The two frontline bowlers aren’t finding consistent success and this has affected the team’s winning chances so far. The bad news is that Tom Helm and Blake Cullen haven’t been among the wickets either. This is a big headache for Middlesex as it only increases the pressure on the middle-order batsmen.Įskniazi would be backing his bowlers in this game as the opposition also struggles with batting issues. However, the skipper himself has been completely out of touch with scores of 0, 1, and 18 (24) in his last 3 innings.Īt the same time, his opening partner, Joe Cracknell has scored 0, 2, and 2 in his last 3 innings. While they may not have been able to convert those scores into a big impact knock, there is some consistency and as a result, Eskinazi can rely on them. Max Holden, Ryan Higgins, and Jack Davies have scored crucial runs in the last 3 innings. The good news for Middlesex would be the promise shown by these middle order batters. However, they fell short by 5 runs and their winless drought continues. Holden’s fifty and his partnership with Higgins gave Middlesex a good chance at securing their first win of the season in the last outing. Steve Eskinazi looks helpless while the team keeps on losing one game after another. This has been one of the worst seasons for Middlesex so far. It is worse in the Sussex camp given how their batters have been inconsistent in the middle. Max Holden, Jack Davies, and Ryan Higgins are among the key players to have scored anything significant for Middlesex in the middle order. A lot depends on the middle order for Middlesex. Though they scored 180+ in the last game while chasing a 220-run target, previously Sussex were bowled out for 144 and 138. The Sharks have also been toothless when it comes to batting. On previous outings, the Eskinazi-led team finished with 139-9 and 136-10 batting first. Middlesex came very close to their target in their last outing but a failure to chase down a 165-run target doesn’t reflect well on their batting. One of the biggest issues facing both teams is their poor batting form. Two bottom ranked teams will be locking horns at The Lord’s hoping for a start of a comeback at a crucial juncture in the league.
